Ok so it’s not been the best of years for racing fans, many racing events have been cancelled and things have been more than a bit gloomy all around. But things are starting to look up at last, we can start daring to go outside and enjoy ourselves, and what’s more enjoyable than an honest to goodness No Prep event! To save the year, Mike Murillo and Scott Taylor are throwing the final no prep of the season, and it promises to be a good one.
If you can get your butt down to Alamo City Motorplex in Texas on Friday the 11th and Saturday the 12th of December you are in for a good time, with a wide range of cars and classes to enjoy. Not only that, you just spot a few tv celebrities with multiple cars and drivers from the hugely popular Discovery series; Street Outlaws in attendance.
To name but few, you’ll get to see infamous James Finney, “aka Birdman” in his newly built and stunning looking Camaro. Cody Baker will be there with his animalistic Camaro that will be doing its very best to burst your eardrums with the sweet sweet sound of blower whine and zoomie headers.
Scott Taylors new car “Track Doe” just keeps getting faster and faster each time it goes out thanks to Procharged Hemi power, so be sure to keep an eye on him. If big inch motors and multiple stages of nitrous are more your thing, then the Bird Brothers will be on the property in their mountain motored, nitrous huffing Ford probe. It’s may be a small car but it has a big heart, so don’t be fooled.
Following the Ford theme you have the chance to see two of the most hardcore track and street racers in the form of Mike Murillo and Chris “BoostedGT” Hamilton respectively. 16x time Champ Mike Murillo will be out with his best girl “Lafawnduh” a sinister black Foxbody Mustang that managed to take the No Prep Kings crown in the face of stiff opposition. The swiss-army knife of racers comes in the form of BoostedGT, who’s latest Mustang build can seemingly be swapped from street to track, big tire to small tire, prepped track to no prep. No matter the location, conditions or class, Chris comes to party!
Friday sees the gates open from 11am to noon for racers and venders to come in a get setup, with spectator access opening at 4pm and racing kicking off at 4:30 with grudge racing (have your cash ready… pick one and ride with’em). You have a small tire and big tire cash days going down on the Friday night, which gets the winner of each class $5000 for a $250 buy-in.
Saturday has a 6.0 and 7.0 class, both paying $2000 to the winner in each for only a $60 buy-in. If you want to inspire the next generation of racer, there’s Junior Dragster racing with a $250 jackpot to the winner for a $25 buy-in. Small tire will be next to hit the strip, with whoever can get the most power down on that skinny(ish) tire taking home a cool $7500 for a $250 buy-in. At the end of the night it’s time for the big boys to see who make the most of all that power and that big tire, on that most tricky of surfaces. Payout and buy-in for big tire are the same as for small tire.
If you want to come Saturday, the gates will be open for racers at 9am, general admission at 10am, with tech/registration starting at 10am also. 12 noon sees the drivers briefing and the start of the true Street Cruise, and racing kicking off at around 12:30.
If you want to enjoy all the sights, sounds and smells (hmmmm….racegas and tire smoke) as well maybe grab a autograph, meet your favorite drivers or possibly grab some merch, it cost $20 for the Friday, $25 for Saturday or just $40 for both days, with kids under 12 going for free.
Lets see 2020 out in style!
